Mid Canterbury EAGLES Australian Football Club
Founded in 2003 by Kevin Monson and Pete Rich, the Mid Canterbury EAGLES was based in Ashburton with many players travelling up the highway each week to play in Christchurch, and once a season CAFL would play in the Ashburton Domain.
Now based in Christchurch, the Eagles had some lean years in the 2000’s, but then went back-to-back Premiers in 2011-12, 2015, undefeated in 2020, and again (back to back) Premiers in 2021. After bowing out in 2023 and 2024 in the semi finals, they will be looking to return to the Grand Final in 2025 and ideally add to their five (5) premiership cups.
The team with the best club song, the Eagles are coached by former NZ Falcons captain, Andrew Howison.
